Alise often helps our next door neighbour Colleen, in her wildlife shelter feeding the orphaned Native baby animals. Pipin is a Victorian koala, however has Strezlecki genes, which mean she will grow bigger/heavier than the normal vic koala. Pipin would have been about 12 months old when that pic was taken, her mum was road hit and she was brought into the shelter here at the age of 8 months, on 4-5 bottles per day. At the age of 12 months she would normally be following mum around among the trees but because she has been raised in captivity they are a little behind thus her clingyness.... Deb, We assume her mum was a road hit , and she is a Black Wallaby (was swamp wallaby but the NRE changed there name) she was about 6 months old when she came here. Deb was transferred to Colleen from another shelter malnourished, balled and suffering diareah due to poor management there. She is now about 11 months old and bouncing around the backyard. | Tom and Chompa | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
This is Tom, Colleen's brother. | He also spends alot of time helping out with the animals. The wombats name is Chompa... Chompa's mum was a road kill too..only poor Chompa was left with his dead mum for a week and garbos eventually brought him into a shelter.. he was very dehydrated and had mange, he is about 6 months old in this picture. Chompa is now 18 months old, fat large and healthy and paried with Thea still kept in a pre-release pen ready for release in spring chomp chomp... his favourite food apart from people is grass!
